Expert Pruning Techniques in Olive Cultivation: LTT Activity Successfully Completed in Córdoba
Within the scope of the OliVR project, a Learning, Teaching, and Training (LTT) activity titled “Expert Pruning Techniques in Olive Cultivation with a Focus on Arbosana and Arbequina Varieties” was successfully held in Córdoba, Spain, hosted by the University of Córdoba.
The training activity brought together partners from Türkiye, Greece, and Spain, including the International Agricultural Training Center (UTEM), Hacettepe University, Agricultural University of Athens, the Spanish host institution University of Córdoba, and Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha (JCCM). Participants engaged in a comprehensive training programme combining both theoretical knowledge and hands-on field practice.
The training programme was designed to include both theoretical and practical components and was structured in line with the micro-credentials approach. Theoretical sessions covered key principles of olive pruning, variety-specific techniques, and modern cultivation practices. Practical training was actively delivered at the Rabanales Campus, the application and research facilities of the University of Córdoba, where participants received hands-on pruning training particularly focused on Arbosana and Arbequina varieties.
In addition to the activities conducted at Rabanales, two technical field visits were organized to different olive farms. During these visits, live demonstrations of pruning practices were carried out under real production conditions, enabling participants to observe and compare different field applications.
A key component of the activity was the integration of field-based learning with digital innovation. Throughout the training, high-quality visual materials and technical data were collected in line with the project’s VR-based content development strategy. These materials will directly contribute to the creation of immersive and interactive training modules for vocational education and training.
The LTT activity not only enhanced the technical competencies of participants but also strengthened collaboration among project partners. It represents a significant step towards achieving the project’s goal of developing innovative, technology-driven training solutions for the agricultural sector.
